Public

Civic spaces such as museums, theatres, libraries, and courts are at the heart of our communities – and they have the potential to enrich people’s lives for generations to come.

Our experienced Public team engages deeply with the purpose of each project, guided by a respect for the surrounding culture, community, and landscape. Combining creative and strategic thinking with a collaborative approach, our design solutions reflect an alignment of form and function.

We design civic buildings and spaces to feel welcoming and familiar, fostering a sense of belonging, promoting social interaction, and forming genuine connections to people and place. We know they need to be accessible, safe, and comfortable for visitors of all ages, demographics, and cultures.

Our portfolio includes complex and varied projects such as the globally significant Naala Badu (Sydney Modern) building, the multi-award-winning State Library Victoria Redevelopment, the Thomas Dixon Centre – home of the Queensland Ballet – and the planned transformation of the Canberra Theatre Centre.

At Architectus, the Public team is part of our Communities portfolio, which responds to the increasing overlap between public spaces, urban renewal, and learning campuses.
