The Gold Coast Desalination Plant supports the Queensland Government’s strategy for providing a long term water supply solution to South East Queensland. The facility consists of a series of buildings, each housing a specific engineering function in the desalination process.

The complex is sited between the Gold Coast Airport and the Gold Coast Highway, near the QLD/NSW border and is a highly visible arrival marker to South East Queensland.

The design response recalls the water purification by rendering the buildings as super scaled pipes or conduits. The large coloured graphic applied to the roof and wall elements enable the complex to be read at a number of scales.
