New leaders take on Education, Interiors and Aviation Sectors

Architectus has appointed three new National Sector Leaders in Education, Interiors and Aviation – part of a broader structural shift designed to amplify our deep expertise and the synergies between sectors.

Three highly experienced Principals are stepping into the roles:

  • Marina Carroll, Education. A talented architect and specialist in learning environments, Marina’s sector insight and experience spans primary, secondary, and tertiary education. She understands the complexities of designing for today’s campuses, which are increasingly becoming our public squares and community meeting places within broader precinct developments. Marina has played a pivotal role in large-scale campus transformations, including Macquarie University’s 1 Central Courtyard Building, ongoing works on Arts West with the University of Melbourne, and major state school redevelopments such as Chatswood Education Precinct. Across all her work, she has a reputation for mobilising complex stakeholder groups and generating buy-in to keep projects on track for success.
  • Mark Talbot, Interior Architecture. With three decades in interiors, architecture and industrial design, Mark has worked across a broad range of sectors – including residential, hospitality and mixed-use – and on all types of projects, from a leading-edge workplace for Macquarie Group (Martin Place North) to a duty-free retail concept for Sydney Airport’s T1 terminal. He is a collaborative leader who’s particularly skilled in managing resources and aligning a client’s brief with the most optimal design solutions.
  • Karl Traeger, Aviation. A leading expert in aviation architecture, Karl has an impressive portfolio of airport terminal and security projects across the Asia-Pacific, including Soekarno Hatta International Airport T3 in Indonesia, the Adelaide Airport Forecourt and upgrades to Melbourne Airport’s International Terminal and Brisbane Airport’s Domestic Terminal. Even on the most complex projects, he maintains a focus on solutions that are integrated, sustainable, adaptable and socially advanced.

The sector leadership changes follow our announcement of new multi-sector portfolios at Architectus – Communities (Education, Urban Futures, Public), Living and Working (Commercial, Interiors, Living) and Transport (Rail, Aviation, Infrastructure).

Together, these changes will further strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional design outcomes, including on complex, city-shaping projects.
