The new Sportsfield Carpark at QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus provides much-needed car parking along with an enhanced sporting facility for recreation, teaching and learning. Situated on the site of the former Sports Lane Oval, the development includes a new three-storey mixed-use building, multi-storey carpark with 800 undercover car spaces, a FIFA accredited synthetic football field on the rooftop, as well as playing and teaching facilities.

The project also involved infrastructure upgrades to Herston Road and Sports Lane to accommodate increased traffic flows and provide safe egress for vehicles onto the Kelvin Grove campus. The design of a bridgelink walkway allows seamless pedestrian access to the University’s upper campus.

Care was taken by the design team to craft a Stadium appearance, integrating the carpark yield into the landscape. A fast-tracked delivery method was adopted by the client with the project being delivered in under 15 months.
