Central Precinct Renewal Program
Working closely with Transport for NSW and other stakeholders, we have prepared a comprehensive planning and urban design framework that will renew Sydney’s Central Precinct.
Our work on this significant project includes advisory on private proposals for sites located at Lee Street and Railway Square, concept design for feasibility, a strategic business case for over-rail development, the adaptive reuse of the Grand Terminal Building and cross corridor connections, public domain and open space.
Comprising land in and around Central Station transport interchange, Central Precinct will be a new destination for the local, metropolitan, regional and global community. It will draw on the character and significant heritage within Central Precinct and the surrounding suburbs to foster a unique and vibrant urban place providing space for jobs in innovation and technology, improved connections with surrounding areas, new and improved public spaces and social infrastructure to support the community.
The Preliminary Precinct Plan and principles provides an initial look at what could be achieved through the renewal of Central Precinct. These are to be further investigated as part of the Stage 2 SSP process and will likely change and evolve over time to respond to detailed site analysis and impact assessment.
Public Domain and Open Space Principles
