As CEO of the largest multi-disciplinary architecture and design practice in Australasia, Ray leads a team working across nine studios and covering all aspects and typologies of the built environment.
He is passionate about transformative, city-shaping projects and believes the best design solutions are underpinned by rigorous analysis and supported by open and collaborative client engagement. He advocates for design that is people-focused and creates civic value beyond the confines of the site.
During his 40-year career, Ray has led many significant projects, including the planning and urban design framework for the 24-hectare Central Precinct, a sweeping renewal of Sydney’s largest transport hub.
He’s built strong relationships with clients, councils and consultants, and collaborated with prestigious international architects, most notably acclaimed German studio Ingenhoven Architects, co-designing the multi-award-winning 1 Bligh Street and residential tower 505 George Street.
A conceptual and forward-thinker, he is skilled in identifying opportunities for innovation, especially in the areas of sustainability and responsible urban development.
A founding director in 2001, Ray has overseen the enormous growth and evolution of Architectus, a practice with the national reach and deep expertise to achieve design excellence at scale.
