The heritage-listed Thomas Dixon Centre has been revitalised as a centre of wellness, art, and performance for the Queensland Ballet.

We worked closely with the company to enrich the historic Thomas Dixon Centre, allowing Queensland Ballet to further expand and shine on the global stage.

The existing space has been renovated and extended to provide additional facilities for the company and ballet patrons as well as support engagement with the wider community.

“The redevelopment of this historic building is a truly transformational moment for the arts in Brisbane.”

Li Cunxin AO, Artistic Director, Queensland Ballet

Room to move and grow

This redevelopment means the company can now accommodate a larger ensemble of dancers, expand dancer training programs, and enhance community initiatives.

The visionary development strategy is strongly underpinned by Queensland Ballet’s pillars of art, people, home, and wellness.

The design of the refurbishment and extensions embodies their vision for new world class facilities for the company. It includes new and revitalised dance studios, a Performance Studio Wellness Centre,  expanded wardrobe and production facilities that give the public a glimpse behind the scenes, plus a shared café and function spaces.

The new additions are set back from the heritage building , creating a new central promenade and focal point for the Queensland Ballet and the community.
