Architectus welcomes five new leaders in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne

Celebrating our continued growth and commitment to design excellence, Architectus has appointed five talented new leaders to our Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane studios.

Bolstering our Education sector, we have welcomed Principals Basil Richardson and Terry Braddock to our Sydney and Brisbane studios, respectively.

Basil brings 30 years of local and international experience managing large-scale, complex projects in the education field, drawing on his deep cross-sector knowledge that comes from working in the Commercial, Health, Residential, and Hospitality sectors.

Terry arrives at Architectus with over two decades of experience under his belt, marked by industry recognition for his contributions to various high-profile projects in Brisbane.

Adding a raft of expertise to the Melbourne studio, our Health and Interiors sectors have gained two new Principals, Sannah McColl and Rebecca Daff, while our Public team has welcomed Associate Principal Will Pritchard.

Sannah’s impressive 20-year track record involves leading major health projects across Victoria, guiding them from initial feasibility stages to successful construction completion.

Rebecca’s specialised understanding of interiors will elevate our Interior Architecture sector. She will have a dual focus on workplace design and retail design, drawing on her experience overseeing major retail, commercial, environmental, exhibition, and brand-focused projects.

With over 25 years in the field, Will joins our Public team with a wealth of experience in designing intricate and culturally impactful buildings within the performing arts realm and beyond.

“These new appointments underscore our unwavering commitment to design excellence, and strengthen our cross-sector expertise,” said Architectus CEO, Ray Brown. “We’re thrilled to introduce these exceptional new leaders, who bring with them a wealth of experience to further enhance our Education, Health, Interiors, and Public teams.”

Basil Richardson, Principal, Education (Sydney)

With three decades of local and international experience managing and coordinating complex, large-scale projects, combined with cross-sector thinking from Commercial, Health, Residential and Hospitality design, Basil is adept at working on a range of building typologies. During that time, he’s developed valuable skills in identifying and resolving conflicts during the documentation and construction phases. Basil has a passion for Sustainable Design and integrates sustainable principles into each project that he is involved in, using experience from multiple 6 star Green Star projects. Combining this with a comprehensive knowledge of building methodologies and construction standards, Basil has overseen the delivery of multiple award-winning large-scale developments.

Terry Braddock, Principal, Education (Brisbane)

As a specialist in our education sector, Terry is focused on generating genuine value for communities through transformational civic and social architecture that is sensitive to people, place, and culture. Over more than two decades in architecture, he has earned industry recognition for a range of influential projects across Brisbane. His portfolio includes higher education work such as the University of Queensland Sports Precinct and the Griffith University Arrivals Building as well as contemporary vertical schools such as Brisbane South State Secondary College and the New Farm State School expansion. Terry is also a panel member with Queensland Urban Design and Places Panel. Prior to joining us, Terry was Senior Practice Director at BVN after spending part of his early career with up-and-coming studios in Austria and the UK. In addition to education, Terry has significant experience in the health and supported housing sectors as well as in master planning for urban precincts.

Sannah McColl, Principal, Health (Melbourne)

Sannah is a strategic thinker who is passionate about good design in healthcare buildings. With more than two decades of experience planning and delivering major health projects in Victoria, she champions evidence-based design in combination with functional, efficient, and intuitive solutions. Sannah has the strong leadership skills and insights needed to navigate complex stakeholder environments. She understands how to keep projects on track for successful delivery, working closely with health networks and clients, multi-disciplinary consultants, in-house architectural teams, and contractors on tight timeframes and budgets. She has effectively managed a range of significant government projects from the feasibility phase to construction completion, drawing on her expertise in client management and health planning as well as her knowledge of complex technical and engineering services. Her portfolio includes the Pathway to 144 Mental Health Beds across four sites in Victoria, Frankston Hospital Redevelopment Stages 2 and 3, and the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Prior to joining Architectus, Sannah was a Principal with Lyons and NTC Architects as well as a Senior Design Manager with Lendlease.

Rebecca Daff, Principal, Interior Architecture (Melbourne)

Rebecca is an experienced architect who believes good design starts with truly understanding a problem that needs solving – insight that allows her to translate an organisation’s brand, values, and business goals into an exceptional environment for both client and users. A passionate designer and collaborator, Rebecca enjoys all stages of a project, from briefing to completion. She advocates for a highly inclusive design process, with the architect acting as both creator and mediator to ensure everyone is fully engaged and the final solution has genuine value and impact. At Architectus, Rebecca has a dual focus on workplace design and retail design, drawing on her experience overseeing major retail, commercial, environmental, exhibition, and brand-focused projects. Before joining us, Rebecca was Practice Director at peckvonhartel, and has also worked at Futurespace, Geyer, and Parker Design over the course of her 20-year career. During that time, she has worked with high-profile clients including Westpac, Telstra, and Google.

As an Associate Principal in our Public sector, Will is focused on designing complex, culturally significant buildings, including the recently announced Canberra Theatre Centre, a collaboration with Henning Larsen and Arup. With more than 25 years of experience in the field, he has contributed to a wide range of architecture in the performing arts and beyond, including in sectors as diverse as Education, Commercial, Residential, and Infrastructure. Over that time, Will honed his skills in client consultation, team leadership, design development and documentation, and construction delivery. Before joining Architectus, Will worked for several design practices in Melbourne including LIMINAL Studio, fjmt Studio (now fjc Studio), Elenberg Fraser, and ARM Architecture.
