Architectus provides transport design expertise for major Victorian infrastructure projects
Architectus is proud to be providing design services for two of Victoria’s most significant infrastructure projects, the Suburban Rail Loop and new Melbourne Airport Rail Link.
Work on both projects is in collaboration with the Aurecon, Jacobs, Mott MacDonald (AJM) Consortium.
The Suburban Rail Loop is Victoria’s largest ever rail project and marks the first stage of a major expansion and reshaping of Melbourne’s suburban public transport network. Principal, Andrew Shields has been appointed to lead the Architectus project team, which is part of the wider Architectural, Urban Design and BIM Team.
The Victorian Government recently announced $2.2 billion in funding for all initial and early works of the Suburban Rail Loop, with works due to commence in 2022.
Architectus’ Victorian transport design team, led by Principal Mark van den Enden, is also working with the Technical Advisor AJM to realise the new Melbourne Airport Rail Link for Rail Projects Victoria.
The new airport rail link will take travellers back and forth from the airport to the Melbourne CBD in less than 30 minutes. The Victorian and Australian governments are committing $5 billion each to deliver the new infrastructure, with detailed planning works now underway on the project.
Architectus Principal and National Sector Leader for Transport, Robert Ousey said: “We’re looking forward to bringing our transport design expertise to two of Victoria’s most significant infrastructure projects, in partnership with the AJM Consortium. These city-shaping projects will play a pivotal role in how people move around Melbourne and experience the city.
“With a history of successfully delivering complex and large-scale transport projects, we have established a market leading transport design team at Architectus, and look forward to continuing to grow our presence in the sector.”
