The Learning and Teaching Renewal 2022 project has refurbished a suite of common teaching spaces, across three of the University of Adelaide’s campuses. The project aimed to create a sense of innovation and inspiration through contemporary, flexible spaces that inspire teaching and learning and foster advanced teaching pedagogies. The refurbishments provide welcoming spaces that inspire students to dwell, engage and collaborate with staff and peers.

The project was split across two stages. The first stage converted several large-scale didactic teaching spaces into contemporary tiered and flat floor collaborative teaching spaces as well as upgrading a computer suite.

The second stage strategically assessed the possible conversion of 19 didactic lecture theatres and classrooms into collaborative learning spaces. Architectus ran six workshops with stakeholders including academics, staff, students and infrastructure teams to understand requirements and aspirations for the new learning spaces.
