The RAAF Base Amberley Stage 3 project includes a new Physical Fitness Complex, Combined Mess and Living-In Accommodation. These three project elements were master planned into highly connected living precinct supporting the significant on-base population connected to operational facilities.
The Physical Fitness Complex is a state-of-the-art training facility comprising a variety of indoor training facilities (basketball courts, Olympic pool and separate cardio, spin, boxercise and weight training rooms. Outdoor facilities include a 400m all-weather running track, football fields, cricket nets, beach volleyball courts, obstacle course and tennis courts.
The Combined Mess is a flexible facility that operates as an informal recreational environment (with lounges and games rooms) to formal ceremonial uses. It can supply breakfast, lunch and dinner sittings for up to 2,000 people and also supports mission activities with pre-prepared meals through the in-flight kitchen.
The Transit Accommodation facility comprises 200 rooms with surge capability to accommodate an additional 200 beds. The facility is delivered in two buildings each with 5 floors of 20 rooms together with a third support building establishing a grand courtyard between the buildings.
