The Melbourne Airport Northern Infill + Pier C Expansion Project (NIPC) encompasses additional international gate capacity at Pier C, expansion of the outbound baggage hall and departures duty free retail.
We explored multiple options, testing efficiencies, operations and buildability, and prepared a report summarising the final design options which included:
- minimum 3 additional international Code E Gates
- dedicated connection between Pier D and the D3/Pier C Infill connecting arriving and departing passengers with Pier D
- additional baggage capacity, to support outbound baggage provisions and system connection from T1 to international terminal
- maximised retail opportunities
- minimised overall project lifecycle costs
- flexibility for future expansion and development
- minimise impact to operations
- optimise level of service, customer experience and International Air Transport Association (IATA)
