Array at 1 Eden Park Drive
Array at 1 Eden Park Drive is located on the southern edge of the Macquarie Park business district between Waterloo Road, Lane Cove Road to the west and the M2 to the north. It has close access to public transport including the Metro station located on the corner of Waterloo Road and Lane Cove Road.
Responding to the constrained urban context of the site, the building form steps down towards the east in order to sympathise with the scale of the central precinct, while also providing self-shading on the roof areas from the western sun. Views to the north and eastern edges have been maximised over the existing buildings on Eden Park Drive and good access to daylight is achieved throughout the day via minimal overshadowing from adjacent buildings.
The permeable ground plane provides three distinct public areas: arrival undercroft, piazza, outdoor retail undercroft and end of trip facilities. A well-considered pedestrian network ensures clear connectivity while improving access to the broader context.
Typical floor plans have been stretched over their east-west access to maximise views to the north whilst allowing greater sunlight control. Carefully considered materiality ensures views and connections to the public domain areas of Eden Park Drive are embraced, whilst also shading and protecting the internal office spaces. Clear full-height glazing to the east connects the deep western portions of the building to the central precinct, welcoming the morning sun deep into the office space. Landscaped outdoor terraces at levels 6 and 7 benefit the tenants and reduce building heat load on the roof areas.
Array at 1 Eden Park Drive has been designed to achieve a 5.5 Star NABERS rating, 5 Star Green Star rating and WELL Gold certification, achieved through an integrated design approach with early adoption of holistic, whole-systems thinking. The project team worked collaboratively with the building owner to future proof the value of the asset through embedded climate-responsive elements and features.
