The Flagship of the new Wyndham Justice Precinct reaches completion
Designed by Architectus, the Werribee Police Complex is an anchor for the rapidly growing and diverse community of Wyndham City. It is the first facility completed within the broader Wyndham Justice Precinct, which will ultimately align policing, court services, health, and council services.
The new Police Complex heralds the evolution of the area into a sustainable and supportive urban environment, presenting the new face of policing in Victoria as highly visible, accessible to the public and connected to the fabric of the local community. With its broad podium frontage, the building presents a strong civic profile to the main street, while the upper levels almost appear fluid through the delicate articulation of sun-screening. It has become the architectural landmark of the precinct and presents a radical departure from the traditional ‘police only’ service and operational model.
Inside, rational and highly functional spaces are arranged to afford views of the surroundings, with a gym and outdoor terrace enjoying the panorama of local eucalypts as an outlook. The workspace incorporates dedicated work areas for each department, with shared staff amenities, social spaces, and quiet areas having an almost home-like feel to provide respite and support to the police officers based at the Werribee Police Complex.
