While COVID-19 has altered the awards process this year, it hasn’t stopped three of our favourite projects from being shortlisted in the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Architecture Awards – NSW and VIC chapters; the State Library Victoria Vision 2020 Redevelopment, the Shepparton Law Courts and NewLife Darling Harbour.

Due to physical distancing restrictions, the awards ceremonies for each state will be broadcast as a live stream event from the AIA YouTube channel. The NSW Chapter award ceremony will be live streamed on Friday 3 July, and the VIC Chapter awards will be presented the following week on Friday, 10 July.

NewLife Darling Harbour has been shortlisted for the ‘Aaron Bolot Award for Residential Architecture – Multiple Housing’ and is also up for the title of ‘Isolation Oasis Award’ in the NSW People’s Choice Awards – Life in 2020.

AIA Architecture Awards – VIC Chapter

Architectus shortlisted projects

A historical project for the city of Melbourne, the State Library Victoria Vision 2020 Redevelopment, designed in collaboration with Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, has been shortlisted in the ‘Heritage’, ‘Public’ and ‘Interior Architecture’ categories, and is in the running for the acclaimed ‘Melbourne Prize’.

A significant new landmark for the city of Shepparton and a testament to quality civic architecture, the Shepparton Law Courts has been shortlisted for the Regional Prize.
