Celebrating our new leaders

As we enter the next financial year with renewed energy and focus, we’re delighted to announce new appointments to our senior leadership team.

Ruth Wilson – Sector Leader Public

Ruth Wilson will become our new Sector Leader Public. Ruth has led many of our most notable precinct projects in the public, education, and transport sectors including the multi-award-winning State Library Victoria Redevelopment, and the Bendigo Kangan Institute. An accomplished architect, Ruth has helped shape our practice through her exemplary leadership, mentorship and commitment to design excellence. Last year, Ruth received the prestigious Life Fellowship from the Australian Institute of Architects (Victoria) for her significant contribution to the architectural profession. Ruth’s passion for design that deeply engages with civic pride and purpose will be an enormous asset in driving our public sector forward.

Amanda Kershaw – Sector Leader Rail

Amanda Kershaw will become our new Sector Leader Rail. Her insights and approach to transforming the way we live and move through cities is one of Amanda’s greatest strengths. She has delivered an impressive portfolio of public infrastructure projects, working with clients spanning TransLink and TMR, Brisbane City Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council, Queensland Rail, and Cross River Rail. Understanding the customer journey and operational requirements of rail projects has been key to her success in leading projects such as Queensland Rail Station Design Manual. Amanda has been a huge support to our Architectus Conrad Gargett Brisbane colleagues as they’ve navigated the merger both operationally and culturally, and we’re incredibly grateful to her for this.

Connie Argyrou – Principal

Finally, We welcome Connie Argyrou to our Principal cohort. Connie joined the practice as an Associate Principal last year and in a short time has established herself as a pioneering force in our Living team. Connie’s recent projects include Uniting Waverley and Uniting Gordon. Her expertise in designing for communities and individuals, alongside her understanding of residential typologies and the sustainable densification of our cities makes her a huge asset to our living sector and we’re thrilled to have her onboard as a Principal.

We warmly congratulate new studio leaders Nic Martoo for Brisbane and Laura Cockburn for Sydney. Nic’s reputation for design leadership will extend to strengthening our studio culture and fostering a supportive environment where design excellence can thrive.  Laura is a proud advocate for the profession and embodies the philosophy of ‘paying it forward’. We look forward to seeing the energy and ideas that Laura will bring to her new role.

Congratulations to our leaders and thank you for your immense contributions to our practice. We look forward to the year ahead!
