Queensland Museum Anzac Legacy Gallery
Architectus was selected to lead the design of the Queensland Museum Anzac Legacy Gallery and Exhibition Design. The design will result in a sophisticated and celebratory gallery that honours Queensland’s involvement in WW1 at home and abroad and its legacy.
We aim to create an elegant space that respects the modernist architecture, geometry and materials palette of Robin Gibson’s original design. We seek to ground the design in social and cultural familiarity and further abstract the sinuous river like circulation ribbon of the Queensland Museum Sciencentre.
The task of engaging contemporary museum-goers demands richer, more sophisticated, interpretive and interactive media. Our design integrates electronic media throughout the gallery and incorporates digital hotspots in strategic locations.
Transparency and openness within the gallery and between the spaces combined with judicious placement of anchor exhibits provide intuitive, legible circulation and relaxed enjoyment of the exhibits.
