As part of the New South Wales Transport Access Program, Architectus provided reference design studies for the upgrade of the stations of Toongabbie, Rooty Hill and Harris Park.
Carried out within the Transport Access Program (TAP) for the Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) Planning & Programs Division, and working in collaboration with AECOM, Architectus’ studies address deficiencies at the three stations.
The scope for each station includes integration of the latest TfNSW requirements from internal stakeholders including Sydney Trains, Customer Experience Division, Transport Projects Division, and Customer Environments. The scope at Toongabbie and Rooty Hill also included the provision of commuter car parking, with potential sites identified at each location.
At each station deficiencies against current design standards were identified and presented to key stakeholders along with preliminary design options. The options for each site were evaluated against the objectives of the brief including future proofing to meet projected 2031 passenger demand.
Further development was undertaken including a security, safety and constructability review. The developed options were then presented at a workshop and a preferred option was selected using a multi-criteria analysis that considered factors such as customer experience, engineering constraints, accessibility, urban form and land use integration, and cost. The studies were delivered concurrently ensuring a seamless delivery to the clients.
