Architectus collaborated with residential architects SJB and education specialists Hayball to prepare an integrated Urban Design Study and two planning proposals on behalf of two developers seeking to transform a substantial land holding in the Rhodes East Renewal Precinct.
The master plan prepared for the precinct, located in close proximity to the Rhodes Town Centre and the Rhodes train station, takes on an aspirational and holistic vision for a vibrant and active place that will form a new heart for Rhodes East while addressing the needs of a rapidly growing community.
The proposals seek changes to zoning, height and FSR to deliver a high-density precinct comprising four mixed-use towers and a 12-storey government primary school for 1000 students.
In addition to the primary school, further public benefits of the planning proposals include community facilities, a childcare centre, and pedestrian connections that facilitate improved connectivity between east and west Rhodes.
The planning proposal was submitted to the City of Canada Bay Council in November 2017 and is currently being considered by the Council in consultation with the various government stakeholders in the precinct.
