Skye Niseko celebrates one year in operation

Principal Luke Johnson explains the intention of Skye Niseko’s design

Renowned for being located in the ‘Aspen of Asia’, the Architectus-designed Skye Niseko ski resort in the snowy hills of Japan’s Hirafu Resort area features picturesque views of Mount Yōtei, ski-in / ski-out concierge services and first-class spa facilities, while the contemporary design connects residents and guests to the beauty and luminous nature of Hokkaido.

Inspired by the soothing essence of the traditional Japanese hot spring, Architectus Principal Luke Johnson explains the intention behind Skye Niseko’s serene design in Japan’s leading English culture and lifestyle publication, Metropolis.

“Our aim with Skye Niseko was to embed it into the surrounding landscape. We wanted to create meaningful conditions and experiences that heighten people’s engagement with what is particular and unique about this context.”
