The Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) project is the largest public healthcare facility in Australia to achieve the building industry’s highest honour with a ‘6-star’ rating under the green star system for its design and operation.
It is a world class health care facility, servicing the region as the hub in an integrated network of accessible healthcare. The design creates natural, freely accessible social spaces that takes full advantage of the benign seaside climate.
National Public Sector Leader and Principal Dr. Stephen Long says “This award reflects the great working relationships we enjoyed throughout the design and construction phases of the project including our architectural partners HDR and our relationship with Lendlease, Queensland Health and the consultant team. Our aim was to provide patients, visitors and staff with a hospital that meets the highest levels of functional requirements within an environment that is welcoming, familiar, and one that has a sense of belonging on the Sunshine Coast.”
The Sunshine Coast University Hospital offers high levels of public and natural amenity and, through connection to the local community, enhances the experience of patients and staff and contributes to their wellbeing.
