Cremorne Theatre in Brisbane re-opens after refurbishment

Cremorne Theatre opens to the public after three-month close

Architectus is delighted to have contributed to the successful refurbishment of the Cremorne Theatre at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), South Bank.

The Cremorne Theatre redesign reinforces the original `black-box’ theatre design, providing new flexible staging and seating systems that allow for numerous performance and audience configurations. Working closely with clients QPAC and Arts Properties & Facilities, Architectus, as the architect and lead consultant, delivered the refurbishment within a tight program and budget constraints.

After closing for a three-month construction phase, the Cremorne Theatre re-opened to the public for performances on Friday evening. Prior to opening, QPAC client Bill Jessop kindly presented the refurbished Cremorne to the Architectus Brisbane team, as one of their regular Tuesday afternoon Design Share sessions.
