The Cremorne Theatre is a well-loved performance space within the recently heritage-listed Queensland Performing Arts Centre, South Bank.

We were commissioned to undertake an Options Study to improve the flexibility and functionality of the theatre space with new seating, staging and lighting systems that can be easily transformed to allow the theatre to be fully utilised for its intended purpose as an experimental theatre space.

The new systems are to reduce the current labour intensive process, and will incorporate retractable seating and mechanically manipulated staging, to allow for multiple stage depths and flat-floor for use in multiple theatre modes.

The endorsed option including retractable seating to theatre level and fixed balcony with side projections for sound and light technical operators, was constructed in a 3 month window to work within scheduled performances in mid-2017.
