Australian Synchrotron used in COVID-19 fight

Crucial research conducted at Australian Synchrotron

Architectus is proud to see one of our favourite projects, the Australian Synchrotron, used in the fight towards COVID-19 during the global pandemic.

Experts at ANSTO and scientists from the ARC Centre of Excellence in Advanced Molecular Imaging at Monash University are using technology at the Australian Synchrotron to identify the structure of proteins in the virus; research that is crucial for the development of a vaccine or treatment for this deadly disease.

The largest particle accelerator in the Southern Hemisphere, the Australian Synchrotron uses micro and macromolecular crystallography beamlines to construct 3D imagery of the COVID-19 protein molecular structures.

We are proud to be the architects of this building and send our support and praise to all the scientists working around the clock to find a solution to combat this virus and save lives around the world.
