Set in Brisbane’s riverfront parklands at South Bank, the Red Note rehearsal and teaching spaces breathe new life into Griffith University’s Queensland Conservatorium.

The project enhances the functionality of the building, providing high-quality learning, performance and communal spaces for students studying music, acting, and musical theatre.

Our Heritage team worked closely with Griffith University on a design outcome that fosters artistic excellence, paving the way for future generations of creative talent in Queensland.

Fostering creativity and community

In the Central Courtyard, we created a new outdoor stage, a dynamic space where students can showcase their talents in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

The Conservatorium also features a new accessible entrance to make it more inviting and inclusive for students and visitors.

Inside, a refreshed, multi-functional common area for students includes facilities for meal preparation and social gatherings as well as relaxation.

The building’s spaces for rehearsal, recording and filming are now equipped with cutting-edge lighting and audio-visual technology – essential tools for artistic development.

MoreLess

“…Red Note is beautiful and distinctive…The new spaces are truly fantastic and a great asset as we move towards a more inclusive vision for Queensland’s Conservatorium, connecting place, people and art.”
