A key contributor to our Living sector, Emili is an award-winning architect known for her inspired thinking and fierce commitment to exceptional, enduring design solutions for cities and communities.
Over a 25-year career working across a range of sectors and typologies, Emili has designed every kind of home, from single-family dwellings to social housing to large-scale residential and mixed-use developments. She also has significant expertise in the adaptive reuse of buildings, environmentally sustainable design, and urban design.
The common thread through Emili’s work is a unique and thoughtful response to both site and brief, which can be seen on recent residential projects such as Parramatta Tower and Alexandria Apartments. On the Grand Parade Apartments project, she was involved in converting five heritage-listed terraces into new living and working spaces, while on the Dexus Site she worked on the transformation of a 9-storey, 1960s office tower into more than 200 apartments.
A generous collaborator and team leader, Emili is passionate about preparing and supporting the next generation of designers, previously teaching and lecturing at the University of Technology Sydney and the University of New South Wales. Since 2021, Emili has also been a Design Excellence Advisor and Architecture and Urban Design Expert on local and state planning panels including NSW’s State Design Review Panel and the National Capital Design Review Panel.
Before joining Architectus, Emili was the director of Emili Fox Architects and the co-director of Fox Johnston Architects.
