The WA State Rugby Centre is an elite sport facility designed for inclusion and sustainability.
It incorporates spaces for high performance training, treatment and recovery, as well as group learning and administration.
Designed to welcome everyone
The facility was consciously designed the meet the needs of all users, including wheelchair athletes.
To achieve the client’s objective of full integration, we also provided open plan offices that physically and visually connect the professional and community sections within the centre.
An environmentally friendly outcome
By integrating sustainability initiatives in the design early in the process, we delivered all of the building’s environmental features of the building with less than a third of the designed Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) budget.
Those features include one of the largest photovoltaic solar power systems in the state. The centre also reflects passive solar design principles and employs low energy lighting.
Designed to 5-star Green Star equivalency, the building was delivered for $3M under budget.
