Architectus transformed an existing hospitality space into an elegant modern restaurant and bar as part of a wider project encompassing two hotels and a co-living complex.
Located in the northern suburb of Preston, The Stampton was inspired by its suburb’s history as a gateway between regional Victoria and Melbourne. The interior design blends the refined simplicity and rustic charm of the classic Australian farmhouse with the dynamic, idiosyncratic nature of Melbourne’s iconic bar scene.
The result is a welcoming and warm space that seats 200 patrons. A long timber table runs through the centre of the restaurant, creating an open and relaxed atmosphere that transitions from an inviting, family-friendly restaurant during the day into a vibrant destination at night.
The team incorporated rustic and natural materials, quality touches and handmade elements into the space. Through these details, we sought to mirror the atmosphere and tone of a convivial marketplace.
Elsewhere, several existing elements were incorporated into the new design, including the existing stone bar, which was reclad.
