Architectus is leading the design for the New Women and Babies Hospital Project – a $1.8 billion investment in family health by the Government of Western Australia that will expand services and choice for women, newborns and families across the State.

The project responds to the nature of the birthing experience itself — one of the most important events in any family’s life. Balancing these priorities in a health facility that must also be efficient is a motivating challenge for the team.” – Project Lead and Principal Morag Lee

The new 12-storey Women and Babies Hospital in Murdoch will include 274-beds, a neonatology unit for babies needing specialised care, operating theatres, inpatient facilities for maternity and gynaecology, a family birth centre and outpatient clinics. The project also includes a major expansion of Osborne Park Hospital and expanded neonatal services at Perth Children’s Hospital.

Architectus’ local health team, based in the Perth studio, is working with managing contractor We Build to bring the project’s design vision to life and help create a hospital that honours the significance of the birthing experience.
