Westmead Innovation Quarter
Commercial + Education
24 500 sqm
Retail 1940 sqm
Childcare 1480 sqm
Located on the corner of Hawkesbury Road and Darcy Road, the Westmead Innovation Quarter aims to establish the campus as a benchmark Research Hub with an emphasis on health and wellbeing. The proposed two new commercial buildings will bring together key research and health institutes, providing opportunities for collaboration within the Westmead Health Precinct and complementary commercial partners. The aspirational and functional requirements of the research-focused hub, co-located with Westmead Hospital, form part of the overall Research Precinct Master Plan.
The buildings comprise 7 floors of commercial and education space across 24 500 m2 NLA, plus associated retail of 1940 m2, childcare facility of 1480 m2, end-of-trip facilities and private roof terraces. With primarily research-based occupants, the laboratories and workspaces are designed to accommodate academics, clinicians, post-graduates students and research assistants, and also include spaces for shared collaborative research and community groups.
The ground plane between the two buildings is designed to be open, activated, green and integrated with the surrounding campus. Promoting wellness and connectivity, landscaped areas, shared spaces and quiet areas for contemplation and study, were imperative in supporting the overall Precinct Master Plan.
