Sunshine Coast University Hospital Car Park
Exemplar Health / Lendlease
CP1 81 716 sqm; CP2 16 437 sqm
Dr Stephen Long
Architectus in association with HDR has designed the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital for Queensland Health which provides two carpark buildings; a 600-space, five story carpark and a 2800-space, 9-storey carpark. Both are designed for maximum efficiency and detailed analysis was undertaken to optimise layouts for maximum economy.
The architecture uses modular facade screens that integrate crash barriers and effectively reduces the footprint of each perimeter carpark bay.
The screens comprise vertical structural battens and security mesh. They are complimented by multicoloured soffits that aid wayfinding and invigorate and enrich the facade patterns.
The SCUH carparks are part of the largest public healthcare facility in Australia to achieve the building industry’s highest honour – a 6 Star rating under the GBCA system for its design and operation.
