The landscape concept for Stanton Place is deeply influenced by the suburb’s layered history and Stockland’s forward-thinking vision for the development. It proposes a harmonious blend of a formal public presentation and a more informal, secluded inner world.
In line with the Sydney Streets Code, the design emphasises the importance of creating a safe, active, and accessible public domain that encourages walking and cycling.
The streetscape presentation is contemporary but based in tradition, with courtyard gardens, low brick walls and palisade fences reminiscent of the bungalows of the area’s Garden City past.
Deep setbacks retain existing trees and allow for significant landscape spaces fronting Mentmore and Dunning Avenues.
This character is also reflected in the through-site link, clearly indicating its public nature. The ‘hole in the wall’ café enhances this public atmosphere, offering an additional amenity with an associated public space for relaxation and socialising, encouraging visitors to linger and engage with the community.
A generous space at the heart of the site
At the heart of the site is a generous, split-level communal open space that offers a high level of amenity for residents and their guests. The soft, natural forms and native planting create a sanctuary for escape and relaxation.
The design provides visual appeal for inward-facing apartments, while adjacent dwellings boast generous courtyards with direct access from the communal open space.
The use of endemic and native species throughout the site enhances its ecological value by promoting biodiversity and creating valuable habitats.
