Western Australia’s State Football Centre offers state-of-the-art training and game day facilities for WA’s professional and aspiring football players along with HQ offices for Football West.
Importantly, the facility is designed for equitable use by both male and female athletes.
After developing a project definition plan to test and support the business case, we went on to win the detailed design and delivery of the project via an open tender process.
The project incorporates:
-State of the art training and game day facilities
-A stadium grandstand
-Five-a-side and performance pitches
-Administration and open plan working areas
-Equitable changerooms and restrooms for all genders
-Food and beverage facilities
Highly flexible design solutions
The facility supports the game at all levels, from grassroots and community use to high-performance football programs. With this wide range of users, the project required extensive stakeholder consultation and clever, highly flexible design solutions to meet a variety of needs.
The building design maximises value within a capped budget by incorporating multi-purpose spaces that switch mode for different events. For example, seminar and meeting rooms can double as hospitality spaces on games days.
During large, ticketed events, free community access to areas such as a café and public amenities can be maintained.
The design also incorporates capacity for future A-league or W-League franchises to be based at the centre.
An environmentally sensitive response
The project’s bushland setting required an environmentally sensitive and highly technical design response.
Our careful master-planning integrates high performance training facilities with spaces for community recreation for local residents. It also improves the site’s environmental quality to support native flora and fauna.
