New Coomera Hospital is set to become a beacon of health, community, and natural harmony in South East Queensland providing over 400 beds to the region.

Strategically located between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Coomera stands as a nexus of rapid growth and vibrant community life. Recognised for its natural beauty and accessibility, Coomera is the gateway to numerous attractions, from theme parks to World Heritage-listed natural parks. The project is part of the Queensland Government’s historic health capital program, the largest in the nation.

The design of the New Coomera Hospital honours the land’s rich heritage and the traditional custodians, the Yugambeh language people. Our vision is to weave the cherished memories of the bushland into the urban fabric of this health precinct, creating a sanctuary that regenerates both the environment and the people it serves.

Context and Place

Embracing local flora such as Eucalyptus, Grevillea, and Banksia, the hospital will harmonise with its natural surroundings, offering spaces where patients and visitors can connect with nature.

The hospital’s design includes a welcoming civic place at arrival, fostering a deep connection with the environment. Through visual and physical links to the bushland, we aim to enhance wayfinding and create a tranquil healing atmosphere.

With a rationalised footprint, energy-efficient systems, and design responses to local climate, the hospital is built to adapt and grow with the community, ensuring resilience and sustainability.

Optimising daylight, views, and wayfinding, the design promotes comfort and a sense of place, accommodating contemporary models of care for an enhanced patient experience.
