We designed two vital new buildings for the 1,900+ students and 140+ teachers and support staff who are part of the Mt Lawley Senior High School community.
Year 9 Learning & Specialist Centre
The Year 9 Learning & Specialist Centre at Mount Lawley celebrates the important transition from middle school to senior school. It provides a more senior learning environment that’s seamlessly integrated within the established campus yet forms a proud, distinctive sense of identity.
The building’s planning is a derivative of standard classroom block designs, with a central circulation spine servicing perimeter classrooms.
The new central area was enhanced to be an extension of the classroom adding flexibility and making efficient use of the space.
The learning spaces are functional and well designed for a multitude of purposes.
The 2-storey building includes:
-8 classrooms
-2 specialist science labs
-An IT music lab
-2 acoustic music practice rooms
-A staff room and teacher preparation area, plus amenities
and storage facilities
STEM Building
We delivered Mount Lawley’s new STEM facilities, following the successes we achieved on their Year 9 & Specialist Centre.
Our design process started with a master planning phase that explored the optimum siting for the building within the compact, established campus. A two-storey building allowed us to make the best use of restricted space on the site.
The STEM facility is a hard-working building made from robust but inexpensive materials, making it fit for purpose and designed to last.
