Cremorne Place is setting a new standard for commercial development in Melbourne’s burgeoning tech precinct.
From its generous setbacks at ground level to its distinctive gable roof echoing local architectural history, the next-generation workplace is designed to feel fundamentally connected to Cremorne — an area with a proud industrial past and a bright future for innovation.
A new green edge
Located on the eastern edge of the CBD close to iconic sporting grounds and open spaces, the development features landscaped terraces on every level.
This design move extends indoor-outdoor working and captures panoramic views for tenants. At the same time, it serves as a visual buffer for neighboring properties and introduces a new green edge to the area’s streetscape.
A Cremorne Street colonnade
A wide colonnade facing Cremorne Street creates ample space and shelter for outdoor dining and retail, adding more variety and vibrancy to the precinct.
We also designed sophisticated end-of-trip facilities at the heart of the building, directly accessible from Cremorne Street. This central position ensures the amenities are a fundamental part of the workplace experience.
Gables on the horizon
Rising eight storeys above a robust concrete podium, the tower is topped with three gables, an homage to the iconic ‘Cremorne Gable’ rooted in the area’s history.
The building’s crown effectively hides rooftop plant facilities while adding to the eclectic local skyline.
Drawing further influence from Cremorne’s past, our architectural solution incorporates hard-working industrial materials such as concrete and metal.
The tower’s 2,500sqm of terraces plus integrated greenery draw inspiration from the site’s origins as a 19th century pleasure garden.
Sustainability aims
The new development is aiming to demonstrate leadership in Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) for a commercial project in the precinct.
Design features include shading devices on all sides of the façade to reduce heat gain, a solar photovoltaic array on the gable roof, and a planter box system on every floor.
The PCA A Grade building is targeting a 5 Star NABERS Energy Base Building rating and a 5 Star Green Star Buildings rating.
