Completed in Brisbane in 1993, the Commonwealth Law Courts has been quoted by the judiciary as being the best working court in Australia and identified by the general public as one of Brisbane’s most liked buildings.
The presence and quality of the building, whilst clearly of its time, ensure its lasting value to future generations.
Delivered 100 days ahead of schedule and within the $130m budget, the Commonwealth Law Courts has been the recipient of numerous awards that include the FDG Stanley Award from the RAIA for design excellence and the BOMA Award for best building.
Conceptual thought embraced a responsibility to provide a contextual work, honest in its intent and conscious of its symbolic importance – an opportunity to mark a point in time to express traditional values, cultural and social ideologies as well as provide a tangible representation of our judicial system.
