Architectus has revitalised existing ground level spaces at 480 Queen Street and introduced vibrant new wellness areas for client Dexus and key tenant BHP.
The brief was to breathe new life into the building’s lobby facing Adelaide Street, re-thinking the spatial planning and creating an environment that would draw people in
– and keep them coming back. The project also involved upgrading existing end-of-trip facilities and designing a new wellness suite and winter garden for tenants
to enjoy.
For the lobby re-design, our design team aimed to minimise intervention, focusing instead on enhancing existing features such as the natural stone and lofty voids. Bringing the end-of-trip areas up to standard with other Dexus assets, we introduced a cool room facility, e-bike
charging, and dedicated all-gender facilities.
With health and wellbeing at the heart of our design, the wellness space provides tenants with a flexible, flat-floor room for a wide variety of activities, from yoga to sip-and-paint art classes. Featuring soft tones for a sense of calm, the wellness space also includes three universal rooms for everything from prayer to massage therapy to a space for parents and
children.
Working closely with BHP, our team designed the new winter garden, which is integrated into the existing façade as part of the company’s tenancy on Level 9.
