The design process for the 2/14 LHR QMI, Facilities Gallipoli Barracks development and upgrade involved a methodical approach and was heavily dependent on liaising with client users. The outcome reflected the functional requirements of the brief and included accommodation for an additional squadron, internal planning alterations, new amenities wings to existing buildings and covered structures as an extension to troop areas.
The external material selection was based on low maintenance and functional qualities and to ensure a coherent appearance throughout. The design of the squadron building entry spaces, joinery and internal finishes was based on functionality and durability and a respect for the practical accommodation requirements of squadrons between operations.
