Our proposal for 153-157 Walker Street responds to the site’s rich history, landmark location and enormous potential for revitalising an important city block within an evolving North Sydney precinct.
The building is envisioned as both a unique, uplifting workplace for the 21st century and a memorable destination where landscape and architecture blend seamlessly to add to the life of the city.
Our 153-157 Walker Street tower concept represents:
• A significant contribution toward North Sydney Council’s vision for a people-focused, connected and vibrant CBD
• An engaging development with distinctive and inviting public spaces
• A flexible, efficient and adaptable workplace with a focus on community
• An elegant skyline addition celebrating human centric design
• An environmentally responsive office building targeting a 6-Green Star rating
A development enhancing the public domain
North Sydney’s CBD is undergoing a major transformation. By 2036, new and refurbished commercial towers will allow for around 20,000 additional workers in the CBD.
Set in a premium location, 155-157 Walker Street is part of a vibrant, fast-growing precinct of high-rise developments, close to transport and green spaces.
Our response includes key design moves that capitalise on ways the site could make a meaningful contribution to the Council’s public domain vision.
This includes a recessed podium allowing for more retail and public space, two street front entries, a through-site link to parkland, and lobby and podium landscaping that blur the line between public and private realm.
A distinctive design capturing sweeping views
To the east, west and south, high-performing façades appear transparent, an elegant addition to the urban context; On the northern side, an active and visually attractive frontage makes a positive contribution to the North Sydney skyline.
The tower’s podium is expressed as a vertical extension of the public realm, creating a space where North Sydney workers and visitors public can collaborate and interact.
At the building’s mid-section, a terrace captures uninterrupted Sydney Harbour views, a major drawcard for the site.
Sustainability at the heart of the our proposal
Environmentally sustainable design plays an integral role in our tower proposal.
Passive design moves maximise the efficiency of the building’s envelope while balancing important considerations around daylight, views and comfort.
The use of shading and integrated spandrels in the glazing and façade design help ensure better energy performance, tenant amenity and flexibility.
