Steve McDonald

Steve is a senior commercial and project delivery leader with more than 30 years of experience shaping major sport, community, and education projects across Western Australia.

Known for delivering high quality, commercially robust outcomes with complex programs, he brings deep expertise in project and contract management, procurement, programming, and stakeholder engagement.

Before Carabiner became part of Architectus, Steve served as its CEO, leading the practice through significant growth, transformation and major project wins across sport, recreation, and education sectors. He is recognised for building high-performing teams, strengthening organisational capability, and aligning diverse stakeholders around shared objectives.

Specialising in publicly funded project delivery, Steve has worked across all major sectors including sport, education, heritage, aviation, health, infrastructure, and commercial development. His collaborative, outcomes-focused approach has contributed to some of WA’s most recognisable projects, including Murdoch University’s Boola Katitjin, Scarborough Beach Pool, Cockburn ARC and The Camfield.

In his current role as National Commercial Manager, Steve supports the practice through the stewardship of contracts, commercial guidance, and maintaining national best-practice processes.
