Stefan is a highly respected designer who approaches his work with creativity, curiosity, and generosity – qualities that contribute to an expansive sense of place.

His portfolio includes some of Australia’s finest buildings across university campuses and health precincts.

Focusing on patterns of use, the character of materials, and inventive details, Stefan works with clients to express their vision through architecture that captivates and delights the people who encounter it.

Before joining Architectus as a Principal, Stefan was a design leader and company director at Wardle. With more than three decades at the practice, he was instrumental in developing their design approach alongside John Wardle and the broader team.

Stefan has played a part in a range of notable and award-winning projects in the Education + Research sphere, including the Glyn Davis Building at the Melbourne School of Design and the Ian Potter Southbank Centre – both for University of Melbourne – and the Learning and Teaching Building at Monash University.

He was also a design leader for the concept and schematic design phases of the world-leading Australian Institute for Infectious Disease.

In addition to his vast education portfolio, Stefan has deep expertise in the Health + Science sector, including on the globally-recognised Victorian Heart Hospital, a collaboration between Wardle and Conrad Gargett Architectus. His health portfolio also features smaller-scale projects such as the Epworth Freemasons Cancer Centre in Melbourne.

Common threads across Stefan’s work are his strong commitment to sustainable design strategies and his knack for collaboration across all disciplines and stakeholders.
