Professional Experience
John Whatmore joined Architectus in mid-2015, having spent the previous 10 years working at Brookfield Multiplex as client-side design manager and leading the in-house design team. While at Brookfield Multiplex John focused primarily on the development side of projects including large CBD, urban fringe and mixed-use urban design precincts, comprising of commercial, residential, public, TOD and retail projects.
Earlier in his career, John gained extensive experience in the design of major sporting facilities, including racecourses, sports stadiums, and Olympic facilities, while director at Bligh Lobb Sports Architecture (now Populous) and as principal at Bligh Voller Nield.
John’s major project expertise also includes the preparation of strategic development options and benchmark design concepts to generate high performance by optimising project costs and maximizing returns to the project principals. John has extensive experience at a national level in development of quality control and risk management procedures, preparation of bids, and generation of innovative break-through property solutions for major land owning clients.
