Ian Stanger is an experienced town planner and urban designer who has led and coordinated projects across a diverse range of sectors in the United Kingdom and Australia. After starting his career focusing on residential master planning and housing-led urban renewal, his interests and portfolio have since expanded and diversified from front end planning strategies to built environment design.
Since arriving in Australia from his native United Kingdom in 2008, Ian has specialised in the urban design of activity centres, research and education precincts and transit-oriented development as well as the delivery of new infrastructure projects. This experience has broadened his understanding of the complex, interdisciplinary nature of the design and master planning process and deepened his knowledge of building and public realm design.
Ian has contributed to some of Australia’s most significant recent and future projects in public transport infrastructure, including Sydney Metro City and Southwest, where he led the design development for new Station Precincts in Sydney CBD, and the proposed Melbourne Airport Rail, where he was Project Leader on the Victorian Rail Infrastructure Program.
