Professional Experience

Elizabeth Watson Brown joined Architectus after more than two decades directing Elizabeth Watson Brown Architects, a practice highly regarded for exemplary contextual and socially responsible design.

Her work has been widely published and exhibited and received many significant architectural awards. She was one of 22 architects and designers included in the seminal Place Makers exhibition at Queensland’s Gallery of Modern Art and the Venice Biennale.

Elizabeth is an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the University of Queensland, an inaugural former member of the Queensland Board for Urban Places and a Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects. She has been Director of the Institute’s Queensland State Awards, juror for the National Awards, Jury Chair of the Gold Coast Urban Design Awards, and most recently 2019 Jury Chair of Institute’s the Northern Territory Architecture Awards.

Elizabeth has several design advisory roles to government and industry. She currently sits with the Queensland Government Architect on the Independent Expert Panel advising Arts Queensland on relevant Planning, Design and Heritage Reviews under the CMP for the Queensland Cultural Centre.
