Andrew Shields

Andrew has been immersed in rail related architecture for for over 25 years. He leads the Architectus Rail Sector for Victoria and South Australia and enjoys using his experience to lead and mentor the team across all aspects of the work they undertakes.

With almost 40 years of international experience in diverse locations including London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore and Delhi, Andrew has developed a passion for helping to craft transportation facilities that allow people to connect with one another conveniently, easily and pleasurably and which stitch together the places they are created in. This has allowed Andrew to explore all levels of city shaping and place making, while attending to clear and efficient planning and the technical complexities of large-scale infrastructure.

He has had central roles in the architectural and urban design of new rail lines, ranging from high-speed rail to metro. He has led large architectural design teams within complex multidisciplinary projects through all project stages from feasibility to construction completion. Andrew brings his breadth and depth of experience to managing the complex interfaces between clients, consultants, and stakeholders in the urban integration of large and smaller-scale infrastructure projects, while ensuring great design outcomes.
