Topping out at Loreto St Georges Redevelopment

The Loreto St Georges Redevelopment has reached a major milestone with a Topping out ceremony held in Toorak.

Loreto Mandeville Hall Toorak along with Architectus’ John Sprunt, Anthony Apolloni, Paulo Sampaio, and Emma Lombardi, with project collaborators, Vaughan Constructions and Johnstaff recently celebrated the topping out of the new building.

The main objective of the St Georges Redevelopment is to better accommodate the education needs of students in years 7 to 9. Each learning floor includes a community heart that is a gathering place for a whole year-level and part of the informal learning zone that links the formal learning settings.

The architecture is a true expression of the Education and Functional Brief that was developed closely with staff, students, and Heads of Learning. Both a consequence of and a response to its immediate physical context, the architecture responds to opportunities and constraints that the environment provides. The design adopts an architectural expression that compliments the contemporary Mandeville Centre and the heritage-listed Mandeville Hall, including a palette of materials that are textural and authentic.

The redevelopment is due to open its doors to teachers and students in late 2021.
