The new face of Bendigo TAFE revealed

The $60m City Campus Revitalisation creates exciting and invigorating education environments where students and staff can forge strong learning partnerships with industry and with each other.

The revitalised campus is home to multiple diverse student cohorts from Hair & Beauty, Hospitality and Creative Industries through to Adult Migrant English, Work ED and VCAL. Each has specific learning needs and spatial requirements, so there is a wonderful array of bespoke learning settings on campus, united as nurturing, nourishing and collaborative environments where all students feel welcome, comfortable, supported and that they belong.

Waa, the wise crow of the Dja Dja Wurrung, welcomes and guides Bendigo TAFE students as one of three artworks on campus by Wurundjeri, Dja Dja Wurrung and Ngurai Illam Wurrung artist, Mandy Nicholson. Waa and Bujil are the two primary moieties that make up Dja Dja Wurrung cultural and belief systems, brought to life in filigreed metal work on the exterior of the building and in a dramatic hand painting in the atrium of the new Building G.

Architectus Associate Jayden Peacock, who is an alumni of Bendigo TAFE, led this project from concept design to completion. Architectus partnered with Six Degrees Architects who focussed on the adaptive reuse of two heritage buildings with Architectus as lead consultant delivering the Education Design Brief, the campus infrastructure, connecting spaces and two new buildings. Architectus also partnered with SBLA studio, who led the landscape architecture and public realm design.
