Northern Sydney’s NATURA development tops out
The NATURA development architecturally designed by Architectus for Romeciti celebrated its ‘topping out’ in Macquarie Park, New South Wales.
Leading construction company, BESIX Watpac hosted a topping out ceremony on the roof of the 21 storey East tower last week to recognise the achievement and herald the next phase of the NATURA project. A twin tower with 334 luxury apartments, the development captures the beauty of its lush natural surroundings which include established woodland and picturesque gardens.
Located in the Herring Road Priority Precinct the site for this high-rise mixed-use development is in close proximity to Macquarie University Station, Macquarie Shopping Centre and Macquarie University.
The residential development was architecturally designed by Architectus and features interiors by Elenberg Fraser and landscape architecture by ASPECT studios and Taylor Brammer.
Architectus Principal and project lead, Farhad Haidari said, “We are excited to reach this critical milestone because we can visualise the concept within the sensitive natural setting of Shrimpton’s Creek. Five years ago, a key driver in our design response was to create a ground plane with a reduced footprint to let nature spill over into the site. This has been achieved by dedicating the entire ground plane to double height enclosed, semi-enclosed and open communal areas.
The project anticipated the need for connection with nature, and today that is being realised at every layer. From ground plane to the Creek, the Podium to the canopies of mature gum trees that skirt the site, and the towers that enjoy the outlook to Lane Cove National Park. We are delighted to be working with Romeciti – who set the vision for this benchmark project – and BESIX Watpac, a high calibre Contractor, fit to deliver that vision.”
