Harbord Diggers shortlisted for International WAN Award
The Harbord Diggers Club Redevelopment has been recognised by the World Architecture News (WAN) Awards, shortlisted for 2021 award in the Mixed-Use category.
‘While the Harbord Diggers Club was born during hard times and created by working-class people, the club today is re-imagined as an Intergenerational Community Hub’ to both broaden and deepen the relevance to today’s community.’ Mounties Group’s vision informed the team’s conception of an inter-generational community hub combining an outdoors hospitality precinct with club, health, fitness, childcare, and retirement living.
The WAN judges commented, “I love this project not only for what it has represented but how it has evolved and kept the spirit of the community and sensitivity to landscape and coastline at the forefront of the design.”
The WAN Awards recognises projects from across the globe that demonstrate excellence in architecture. A total of six entries were shortlisted in the Mixed-Use category with winners announced in November 2021 at the digital awards ceremony.
